Year 12 formal-29th of November 2006

Once a girl in preparation for her year 12 formal went to great lengths to make sure that she looked fabulous: buying expensive fabric for the dress she had designed, then getting the dressed made, getting her eyebrows waxed and her eyelashes tinted, buying new underwear, shoes, and expensive make up, not mention hair and nails. Eventually her unfortunate father-who had been paying for all this-complained, “we’re spending much to much money, I hope this is all worth it.”
“Don’t worry,” she reassured him “it is.”
Finally the big hour approached and the girl went to the formal. She spent most of the night feeling anxious apprehensive and nervous, it can safely be said that she did not have a particularly good time.
So the next day when her date dropped her home, her father asked her “Did you have a good time.”
“No.” She replied “I spent the whole night feeling miserable: my date was rude and surly, he ignored my friends, danced with me once and spent much of the night outside talking on his mobile phone, in the end, he went back to his car pretended to be asleep but really talked to his girlfriend, he insulted me at almost every turn.”
“ah.” Said her father “ we paid quite a bit of money for a very unpleasant experience.”
The moral of the story is that all the money and beauty in world are worthless if you have not love…
